Just getting started. New town, new studio, and no students. OK, I know, i shouldn't panic, it's only been 6 weeks. Last week the coupins went out. Maybe 300 of them. I printed 1000. I'll keep handing them out. Self doubt is a bully. The more you get, the more you get.
Do I spring for the add in the paper? Do I relax until the college kids come back? I knew it would be hard in the beginning, new town and all, but this is a bit much.
Advice from some teachers WITH students would be nice....

Re: When the teacher is ready, the students are where?
Thu, August 6, 2009 - 7:17 AMwell,
there is a starting point... when yougot or built the studio did you ask peopel to come try out your classes?
have you put ads in craigslist fo rclasses and other teachers and those who may wish to rent space from you?
You can't run a studio as an island completely unconnected from everyone.
You have to be involved in networking, friend making, constancy..
there is no info here about who your credentials are form or what you offer .. that is huge to some..
6 weeks is a long time to be open and have no students.. if its a college town.. there are still people living there.. an infrastructure so to speak.. posal workers, grocery store managers, churches, governemnt.. people simple people walkign the streets someone is your neighboir have you made any friends? You have to like people and reach out. -

Re: When the teacher is ready, the students are where?
Tue, August 11, 2009 - 6:43 AMThank you for some advice.
I was looking for success stories from other teachers, or even failure stories. I do not own the studio. I am a teacher. I have begun to work out some more advertising, and I hope that works.
Counting on the students coming back.

Re: When the teacher is ready, the students are where?
Fri, August 7, 2009 - 11:39 AMAre you working for the studio? and what type of studio is it?? September is National Yoga Month-check out yogamonth.org and you can invite people to your classes in your area. Perhaps set up an event to let people know you are there in their neighborhood ready to share your knowledge of yoga. Keep positive my friend and plus the students will be coming back soon.

Tue, August 11, 2009 - 8:24 AMIn my experience, people begin/return to yoga and other pursuits in Fall and after the New Year.
Relax.
Open yourself up to abundance and it will come.
