i have, and i love them. i already had over ten yrs practice experience in sivananda and iyengar, and their program was a complement to this. they are very technical and the movement is based on science and not tradition. they focus on teaching you how to teach yoga as opposed to teaching you yoga- although they give you the tools for both. you should just try a level one class and if you don't like it, continue your certification somewhere else. they break up their 200hr ryt into 8 classes, so you don't have to commit everything upfront like most.

I went through their 200 hours too and I really liked their approach for the most part. I think they do an excellent job on modifications and anatomy. And they also do a really good job on inclusive language and making people feel included and successful no matter what variation of a pose they are doing. In fact, that's the number one compliment I get from my own teaching. I wish they had done more with the philosophy, but that's a hard topic to handle. I think they changed things since I got my RYT years ago though.

The big problem I have with their program is it encourages people to start teaching before many are ready, in my opinion. That gets them criticized in the industry. In fact, I have been told once by a perspective employer who wouldn't even give me the chance to demo teach "Go get a real certification and then come back to me." But I've only encountered this once and don't think that bias is everywhere.

well I have a B of Science in PrePhysical therapy and have taught in public schools professionally for over 20 years and have taken yoga and dance for over 35 years. I go ta NIA certification and I am going to start yogafit certs and ge tmy ACE cert.. that way I will be current to teach beginning movement in a gym or Y.

With my previous background I have covered more anatomy than most yoga ttps ever will - a full year aof dissection anatomy with accompanying lectures and I was in an advanced program.

Hope you enjoy it Liz. I decided to wait til nex ttax year for a reason and to continue with my NIA this year and ACE study.

              I took it.
It is a bit expensive,, dont go planning on activity. There is a huge amount of lecture in 12 hour days. I came back from 6 days with more weight and less tone than when I left.

The experience is what you make of it in many ways. I choose to use what I got from it.
When you go let me know.
12 hour days are long .. I stayed in a nearby hotel and that made it much more expensive but our hotel had coffee and breakfast - though sugar-laden food. Another hotel had no coffee for guests- that hotel was 1 block closer to the dance studio and cost more. I cherished myearly morning coffee. The movement funamentals they teach are excellent and well-grounded.

yogamoon, it sounds like you have much better anatomy preparation for the training than many others.

I was in the Level One training with some people who HAD NEVER EVEN TAKEN A YOGA CLASS and were considering becoming a yoga teacher as a career move. Luckily I think these people ended up not continuing on.

But YogaFit encourages people to start to teach after just the Level One, although they say people should only teach the poses they cover in Level One. Still, I think they send too many teachers out there too early, which then means those of us who did the full 200 hours have to go further to defend our training.

                  thanks
I so have a background. I do need certification. Recent certification is needed to teach. I will likely do most of their training. I will also eventually take from Shiva Rea.

I just did the YogaFit teacher training this weekend. I really enjoyed it and got a lot out of it. I already have a 500 hr training in Iyengar under my belt with other styles of influence and I really wanted to do another teacher training. This training was the Level 1 and is a great way to get the foundations down. Plus I love their philosophy and how they're all about making yoga accessible for everyone. The instructors were really fun too. Long days, but they flew by!

I recommend them for anyone who hasn't even done a lot of yoga and wants to get a good foundation of the basics and, possibly teach in the future. You have to do 8 hours of community service teaching before you get your cert of completion. If it was my first time taking a yoga teacher training (regardless of how long I have been doing it), I definitely would want to retake the Level 1 and, of course, take the other levels as well. As a teacher, there's a lot to do and the only way to learn is to really go out and do it! Anyway, great training and lots of fun!
