What's you're favorite way to sequence for Detox specifically? Doesn't matter it it's passive or not.
After I'm warmed and have done some hip / leg openers, I like moving into
-Parvritta Trikonasana
-Half Fold with upper body weight on tops of thighs - neck released towards ground
-Parvritta Ardha Chandrasana w/ optional lifted leg's foot into a wall, hip height.
-Prasarita Padottanasa (sp?)
-Bridge (what's the sanskrit name for this pose? Ardha Urdva Danurasana : )?)
-Urdva Danurasana
-Halasana
-Salamba Sirsasana
-Savanasana

Sun, March 30, 2008 - 7:16 PMFrom Iyengar "Light on Yoga"
Prasarita Padottanasana.
Bridge is: Setu Bandha Sarvangasana.
For detox i often enjoy slow deep movements
from twists to backbends to forward bends.
It is not always the same. -

Sun, March 30, 2008 - 8:29 PMHey Curry,
It's not with me either, but this is one that I seem to come back to generally. And I really like slow deep movements too!

Re: Detox Sequencing
Mon, March 31, 2008 - 9:41 AMHi Katrina,
I love the twists, forward bends and backbends. I always feel the best after Salamba Sarvangasana too. It's like it regenerates all the cells in my blood.
:-)

Re: Detox Sequencing
Mon, March 31, 2008 - 11:01 AMHey Katrina,
I like your asana though I am not sure about your sequencing.
If I am feeling strong, I will go into standing twists and inversions like sirsasana.
Otherwise I stay close to the ground.
Liz, I always love savangasana either setu bandha or salamba.
Again it is an energy thing with me. -

Re: Detox Sequencing
Mon, March 31, 2008 - 12:35 PMI think twists are definitely the 1st place to go to emphasize detoxing. However, I've been told by a senior Iyengar teacher that if you practice a lot of twists, you should not follow them with forward bends or you will get very nausious. -

That's interesting. I usually practice twists with backbends when I actually do a sequence. It opens up my shoulders, chest and back before and after backbends. They're awesome!
